PM facing pro-hunt demo

VISIT: Tony Blair
VISIT: Tony Blair

HUNT supporters and farmers in East Kent are preparing to lobby Tony Blair when he makes a surprise visit to the area later this month.

In a repeat of their protest during John Prescott's flying visit to Eastwell Manor, near Ashford, last month, farmers hope to corner the Prime Minister to make their views known.

One farmer told the Kentish Express: "It's about rural issues. Everybody is angry at the way the Government is doing things to Ashford rather doing them for Ashford."

The Countryside Alliance is planning a strong presence when Mr Blair comes to the area.

It is believed he will fly into Sandgate by helicopter and officially open the new section of the rail link by taking a ride on a Eurostar train.
