The blaze, which is believed to have been started deliberately at about 3am, came just two hours after several bins were targeted on the other side of Ashford, in Hillbrow Lane, near Victoria Park.

One of the bins belonged to Chrissie Hopkins, 48, who said: "We didn't know it had happened until we saw the video someone had posted on Facebook this morning, and then recognised our road from the images and realised it was our bins!

"I'm feeling quite shocked and saddened someone would do this – yes, they're only wheelie bins, but it's not a bit of harmless fun and, apart from anything else is it's a huge inconvenience."

The palliative care clinical advisor for NHS 111 says she is thankful the flames were put out so quickly and no properties were affected.

The cause of the Hillbrow Lane fire is not yet known but no one was hurt in either incident.
