Ashford: Stuck lorry sparks long delays in M20 roadworks

A lorry became stuck in grass on the central reservation on the M20 after the driver took evasive action to avoid a broken down car.

Motorists faced long delays on the London-bound stretch between junctions 9 for Ashford and 8 for Hollingbourne.

The incident happened in the roadworks at about 9.45am and traffic was brought to a halt.

Drivers were warned of severe delays after nine miles of congestion built up, but traffic was released at about 2pm following recovery of the lorry.
