Police arrest 17-year-old on suspicion of rape after incident in Victoria Park, Ashford

A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a park.

The alleged attack happened on a river pathway which leads to Victoria Park in Ashford, between 8.25pm and 9pm on Friday.

It led to officers taping off part of the area - which stretches along the River Stour from the recreational ground’s fountain to Beaver Road - at about 2am the following morning.

Three days on and a suspect has been arrested as part of the rape investigation.

A 17-year-old boy from the Romney Marsh area was detained on suspicion of rape yesterday evening.

He remains in custody while the investigation continues.
