Tenterden: JustGiving page set up to fund lifesaving cancer treatment for Paula Twycross

A family has set up an appeal to pay for lifesaving treatment for an accountant with a rare strain of cancer.

Paula Twycross, 36, from High Halden, has an unusual and aggressive form of cervical cancer.

After 33 doses of radiotherapy and six cycles of chemotherapy, her family says there is nothing more that can be done on the NHS.

Now they are trying to raise £40,000 for cycles of immunotherapy through a private hospital in Hertfordshire.

Miss Twycross, who has worked as an accountant at the London Beach Hotel in St Michaels for the majority of her life, was first diagnosed with cervical cancer three years ago.

Since her diagnosis, she has had several rounds of radio and chemotherapy, as well as a full hysterectomy.

At one point she had to stop chemotherapy treatment after she was admitted to hospital three times with sepsis.

Her family has already raised more than £11,000 to pay for treatment offered at the Rivers Hospital in Hertfordshire, but need £40,000 to allow her to complete the treatment, which costs £3,600 per cycle.

The Tenterden community has already been pulling together to raise money for Miss Twycross.

Tenterden Town Football Club organised a charity ball at the London Beach Hotel earlier this month, which raised more than £8,000 towards her treatment.

On December, 15, a pamper day will be held at The White Lion Pub to raise money for the cause.

Beauty treatments, including make up, facial and gel nails will be on offer at a discounted price from 11am to 4pm.
