Ashford: Timelapse footage of Elwick Place, Cineworld Picturehouse and Travelodge hotel

Eye-catching timelapse footage of a multi-million pound leisure development has been released.

The video - which has been taken over an 19-month period - captures the construction of the new Elwick Place development in Ashford.

Work to build the town centre cinema complex on the former site of the Ashford cattle market started in May 2017.

The £75m leisure complex, which features a six-screen Picturehouse cinema and 58-room Travelodge hotel, opened in mid-December.

The official opening was planned for December, 8, but opened a week later due to a cable fault.

Last summer, the development hit a major milestone as the iconic gold mesh was put around the building.

A new 282-space car park has also been built on the site and includes 14 disabled bays and four electric vehicle charging point bays.

Space for eight new restaurants was originally included in the plans, but bosses have been unable to fill any of the units after facing a "challenging period".
