'Heartbroken' dog lover described moment pet Chihuahua was attacked by another dog in Breadlands Road, Ashford

A doting dog lover says she is "heartbroken" after her three pet Chihuahuas were savagely attacked by a German shepherd.

Molly Green was walking beloved trio Buzz, Woody and Rocky in Breadlands Road, Ashford, when the larger dog suddenly took Buzz in its jaws, pulled him from his lead and shook him "like a rag doll".

Ms Green swept in to pick up the badly-wounded pup, while trying to fend off the canine assailant as it continued to menace her other two pets.

Once she returned to her home in nearby Breadlands Close, the 58-year-old full-time carer realised the extent of the injuries Buzz sustained during the July 22 attack and took him immediately to the vet.

Treatment is ongoing, and she now faces a hefty bill in excess of £4,000.

"I'm devastated and heartbroken," she said. "My dogs mean the world to me.

"I always take the dogs for a walk every day in Hythe Road rec. The German shepherd spotted me with my three dogs, and it came running towards me.

"It put him in its mouth and dragged him into the middle of the road and was shaking him like a rag doll."

The attack left Buzz with significant wounds to large parts of his small body, and almost a week after the attack the Chihuahua is still receiving treatment to prevent the injuries leading to potentially-fatal infections.

With bills for treatment mounting, a GoFundMe page has now been set up to help raise money to cover the costs.

Ms Green said: "They did x-rays and scans, but luckily enough he did not have internal injuries.

"They are worried about sepsis, he is back in the vets now and has got to have all that infected area removed. It's going to take months."
