Police, paramedics and air ambulance descend on Bank Street in Ashford town centre

Emergency services descended upon a town centre following a serious incident.

Bank Street in Ashford was cordoned off, with at least two ambulances and two police cars called to the scene.

An air ambulance was also reported to have landed at a field behind nearby St Mary’s Primary School, opposite Eastern Avenue, at about 8.30pm last night (Wednesday).

Bank Street was off limits from Lesley’s Florist heading towards Lloyds Bank.

Several people reported hearing sirens near Victoria Park and near Lidl supermarket in New Street.

One ambulance was also heard travelling along in the direction of William Harvey Hospital shortly after 9pm.

Emergency services have been contacted for more information.
