Traffic held in both directions on M20 between junction 9 and 10 for Ashford

Traffic was temporarily stopped in both directions on the M20 due to a “police incident”.

The emergency services were called just before midday (June 15) due to concerns for a person close to junction 10 for Ashford.

Police officers attended, and a man was placed into the care of health professionals.

Motorists reported seeing the emergency services, including paramedics, near the scene.

Emily Jane James was in the car when she said she saw a “lot of police” drive past and start blocking off the roads going towards Willesborough and the M20.

The coastbound carriageway was closed between junction 9 for the A20 Fougeres Way and junction 10A for Ashford.

While the London-bound carriageway was shut between junction 10A and junction 10.

However, as of 1.20pm the road was reopened in both directions, and traffic is now running freely.

National Highways said there are minimal delays and congestion in the area.
