Sponsored bike ride to Brighton raises money for new clubhouse at Mersham Sports Club

A sponsored bike ride took place on Saturday to raise funds for a new football clubhouse at Mersham Sports Club.

The four riders took part in a 72-mile ride from Mersham to Brighton with the hope of raising £1000 - a figure which they managed to smash. Over £1,300 has now been pledged.

Organiser Jon Burns, who has set up a justgiving page, said: “Mersham Sports Club does an amazing job of bringing all ages of the community together and has helped develop fantastic friendships for us and our children over the years.

“This is our opportunity to show our appreciation to the club and what it continues to do for Mersham and the surrounding villages.”

They covered the 72.8 miles in an impressive time of 5hrs 44mins, following the coast, past Hastings and Bexhill before reaching their destination.

“We exceeded our target which we were over the moon about,” commented one of the riders, Scott Martin. Chris Peel and James Morgan made up the quartet. You can still pledge a donation here.
