Sibling success at athletics championships

TWO sisters from Ashford recorded a double success in the Canterbury and District Schools athletics championships. Zoe and Rebecca Standing, both members of Ashford Athletic Club, won the 200m and 100m respectively.

Rebecca romped to success in the 100m with a time of 13.1 seconds and Zoe repeated the triumph in the longer sprint with 27.8 seconds, winning the title won by her sister the year before.

The girls were representing St Anselms RC secondary school at the championships held at Chaucer School.

Both girls are regular competitors for Ashford AC with Zoe recently fourth in the Under-15 100m at the Kent Championships at Crystal Palace.
