Defender Charlie Dickens joins Ashford United as loan striker Connor Coyne leaves

It has been one in and one out at Ashford United.

Loan striker Connor Coyne from Folkestone has moved to Invicta’s Ryman League, Division 1 South rivals Whitstable on a similar basis, while United have brought in Charlie Dickens. from Ramsgate on loan.

The teenage defender featured in the 3-2 Macron League Challenge Cup first round defeat at home to Deal on Saturday.

The 17-year-old joined Rams in March and made his league debut for the Thanet club in the final game of last season.

Meanwhile Ashford’s FA Vase campaign starts with a second round trip to Hassocks later this month, following the draw made on Monday.

The clubs have met before in Sussex, Hassocks winning 3-2 in an FA Cup tie in season 2001/2 when Tim Thorogood was in charge at Homelands.
The tie takes place on Saturday, November 22.
