Train delays between London Victoria and Bromley South, Rochester and Orpington

There was disruption to rail journeys between London and Kent this afternoon after an electricity supply problem.

Trains between London Victoria and Bromley South, Rochester and Orpington were cancelled, delayed or revised after a train lost power and stopped in Bickley, due to a power cable fault.

The disruption lasted much of the afternoon after the stranded train blocked the line.

The 9.18am had been heading to London Victoria from Dover when it stopped near Bickley.

Commuters were told they could use their tickets on London buses between Orpington, Bromley South and London Victoria.

They could also use the London Underground between Southeastern's London terminal stations.

Network Rail Kent and Sussex tweeted that all trains in the Bickley area had stopped to allow passengers off the stricken train, with the help of firefighters and ladders.
