Man taken to hospital after building collapse in Welling

A man was taken to hospital after a building collapsed this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the scene at the junction of Central Avenue and Wickham Street in Welling, at 1.18pm.

London Fire Brigade says the building had been undergoing demolition before partially collapsing into the highway, leaving scaffolding in a precarious position.

Crews made the scene safe and a safety cordon was put in place as a precaution.

One man was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews and taken to hospital.

The fire service says one fire engine from Plumstead Fire Station was sent to the scene and the incident was over at 2.21pm.
