A person has been hit by a train at a railway station.

Train operator Southeastern said earlier its services were disrupted between Orpington and Hither Green after the incident at Elmstead Woods Station at about midday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene.

A statement on Southeastern’s website says: “Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident between Hither Green and Orpington.

“So that they can safely carry out their work, some lines have been closed.

“Trains operating between these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

“Disruption is expected until 2pm.”

In an about shortly before 2.30pm, Southeastern confirmed trains between Chislehurst and Grove Park are returning to running on time.

Transport police have been contacted for more information.
