The 18-year-old debutant - ranked 338 in the world - has already stunned Vitalia Diatchenko, Marketa Vondrousova and Sorana Cirstea en route to the last 16.

She’s the youngest British woman to make the second week since Christine Truman in 1959 and is out to make more history today.

Raducanu, who’s already earned £115,000 in prize money, is third on Court 1, the scene of her straight-sets win over Cirstea on Saturday.

She found the court very much to her liking, and it showed in her performance.

“Playing on Court 1 at Wimbledon is what you dream of,” said Raducanu.

“Not many people get the opportunity to do so. This is such an experience and such an opportunity so I thought I would just go out there and have fun. I really think I did.

"I’ve never played as good tennis as I did in some of the points.

“If you ask any of my team, they will say I never run for balls, but if there’s ever time to start running that was today. I am happy that it paid off. I could not believe some of the points myself.

“I think that when playing on Court 1 you’re definitely inspired and you do things you don’t normally do.

“I was having fun, just chasing those balls. It was the first time I enjoyed chasing balls and maybe that’s something I can take on and continue.”

If Raducanu beats Tomljanovic, she can look forward to playing in front of a capacity crowd in the quarter-finals.

Centre Court and Court 1 have been running at 50 per cent capacity but restrictions are lifted from tomorrow, with Wimbledon part of the government’s Events Research Programme.
