Canterbury: Crash on A2 close between Canterbury and Brenley Corner causes disruption

Two accidents on the London-bound A2 between Canterbury and Brenley corner caused long delays this evening.

Queues stretched all the way back to Wincheap and the police asked motorists to steer clear of the area.

At the time of the accidents, police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Police are attending two collisions both on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near Boughton.

"A car has collided with the central reservation close to Brenley Corner.

"Another collision nearby involves two cars. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area due to heavy congestion."

The situation was not helped by heavy rain.

The road was clear by about 7.30pm.
