Air ambulance lands in Victoria Recreation Ground, Canterbury, after attack in St Peter’s Street attack

An air ambulance landed in the early hours of this morning after a man was attacked near a high street.

Police and paramedics were called to a disturbance involving a group of people in St Peter’s Street, Canterbury.

An air ambulance landed in Victoria Recreation Ground, off Rheims Way, shortly before 2am.

Police and paramedic vehicles were also spotted at the park.

A force spokesman said: “We were called at 1.10am today to a report of a disturbance involving a group of people in St Peter’s Street, Canterbury.

“It was reported that a man was assaulted.

“Officers attended and carried out inquiries.

“Paramedics also attended, and the victim, a man in his 60s, was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.”
