Anti-war protester bailed on egg charge

THE case of an anti-war protestor who allegedly threw an egg at the Prime Minister's car has been adjourned.

Thomas Redman, 20, of Duck Lane, Canterbury, is charged under the Public Order Act of using threatening, abusive and insulting words or behaviour. He pleaded not guilty at Margate magistrates Court.

It is claimed that Redman threw the egg as Tony Blair arrived in Palace Street, Canterbury for the enthronement of Archbishop Rowan Williams on Thursday Feb 27.

The case was adjourned until April 17, Redman’s 21st birthday, when a date will be set for trial.

Redman was given unconditional bail.
