Boy punched several times in Canterbury by teenage girl in 'unprovoked attack'

A boy was followed down a high street, verbally abused and punched several times by a teenage girl.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident after the victim was attacked near Canterbury bus station last month.

Shortly after the unprovoked assault, the boy, who is in his teens, was approached by four members of the public to ask if he was OK.

And detectives are hoping to speak to them, having identified a suspect.

A spokesman for the force said: "It was reported that between 8pm and 8.20pm on Friday, August 19, a teenage boy was verbally abused by a teenage girl as she followed him down the High Street.

"He was then punched several times near the bus station, resulting in non-serious injuries.

"A suspect has since been identified and spoken to by officers.

"Detectives would like to speak to those who stopped to assist the victim following the unprovoked assault."

Witnesses are being urged to call officers on 01843 222289, quoting the crime reference number 46/162241/22.
