Delays clear after rush-hour crash at St Peter’s Roundabout on A290 Rheims Way, Canterbury

There were delays on a busy route after a rush-hour crash at a roundabout.

The A290 Rheims Way in Canterbury was partially shut by police after a car hit a lampost this morning but has now reopened.

Drivers were warned to expect queues after the incident, which happened on St Peter’s Roundabout.

A Kent County Council Highways spokesman said on X: “One lane is blocked at St Peter’s Roundabout due to a road traffic collision.

“Kent Police are in attendance.

“Expect delays in the surrounding areas.”

A police spokesman added: “We were called to a report that a vehicle had collided with a lamppost at 8.01am today.

“Officers attended the scene in St Peter’s Place, Canterbury.

“No injuries were reported. Officers assisted while the vehicle was recovered, and work to make the scene safe was carried out by Highways.”
