Serious crash on A2 near Dunkirk in Canterbury

Witnesses reported seeing 'a pedestrian being treated at roadside following a serious crash on the A2 near Canterbury.

Fire crews were called to the London-bound carriageway by the Boughton Bypass at Dunkirk shortly before 5.50pm, along with police and paramedics.

Injuries have been reported and the carriageway was initially closed from the Wincheap junction.

At one point queues were stretching back to the A28.

Police later said the slip roads onto the A2 from Wincheap junction have reopened.

However, a diversion remains in placed by the services in Gate Hill.
