Double rape suspect denied bail

A MAN accused of sex attacks at universities in Kent and Sussex 15 years ago has been refused bail by a judge.

Paul Collings made the application to Judge Michael Neligan at Maidstone Crown Court via a TV link from Elmley Prison on Sheppey.

The 38-year-old, of Peartree Field, Icklesham, Winchelsea, Sussex, is accused of raping a girl, aged 18, at Kent University at Canterbury, in October 1989 and a woman, aged 21, at Sussex University at Falmer, near Brighton, in December 1989.

He also faces two charges of indecent assault on another girl aged 18 at Kent University. He is expected to enter pleas on February 21.
