Driver cut out of car after Canterbury crash

A driver has been cut out of a car following a crash that has closed a city road.

Emergency services were called to St Stephen's Road in Canterbury after the single-car crash this afternoon.

Three fire engines attended the incident, alongside paramedics and police officers.

Fire crews used hydraulic spreaders and cutters to remove the doors of the vehicle and release the driver.

The victim, a woman, was passed into the care of paramedics. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a report a car had left the road on St Stephen's Hill, Canterbury at 3.30pm.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and a woman was taken to a local hospital.

"The road is currently closed while the vehicle is recovered."
