Firefighters called to blaze at storage unit in Canterbury Road Birchington

A road has been closed due to a blaze at a storage unit in Birchington.

Firefighters are on the scene in Canterbury Road, after calls that scaffolding boards and poles, as well as a light good vehicle were alight.

Police are also attending the fire and have closed Crispe Road while the flames are put out.

Crews are using a main jet and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze, along with water supplied from a hydrant.

There are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
