Four cars involved in rush hour M2 accident

Four cars were involved in a serious accident on the M2 during Monday's rush hour.

The accident, between junctions seven and five of the London-bound carriageway, happened around 6.50am.

Two Citroen Belingos, a Peugeot and a Seat Ibiza were all involved.

The female driver of the red Citroen suffered injuries to her leg and back and needed to be freed from her vehicle. She was then taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

Traffic was severely delayed with tailbacks stretching beyond Brenley Corner and as far back to Canterbury on the A2. There were also severe delays on the Thanet Way approaching Brenley Corner.

For a short while, the entry slip road at junction six at Faversham with the A251 was closed to allow emergency services to clear the accident.

The road was reopened at 8.15am.
