Crowdfunding begins after thief steals from Nicola Kennedy in Canterbury during epileptic seizure

A crowdfunding page has been set up to pay for items stolen from a woman while she was having an epileptic seizure.

A cold-blooded thief took Nicola Kennedy's bags, which included an iPad, when she fell ill at Canterbury bus station last Monday.

Now a JustGiving page has been set up on behalf of Canterbury Residents' Group to raise £1,000 for her stolen items.

The page was set up by Edd Withers with the comment: "This is not the Canterbury we know, this is not acceptable.

"We are sorry this has happened to you, Nicola, and we hope we can contribute to replacing the items."

The target figure is £1,000 and by this morning 22% of that, £224, had been raised.

The fundraising is being supported by Canterbury MP Rosie Duffield who tweeted: "This awful incident is, thankfully, not at all the Canterbury I know.

"But the kindness show by those who want to help is. Please share and donate if you can."

Miss Kennedy, 32, of Selstead, described how she "zoned out" as she queued to catch a bus home at about 11.30am.

She believes her seizure lasted two to three minutes.

When she came round she found her items were missing.

The thief had stolen her travel and shopping bags.

He or she also rummaged through her handbag and ran of with an £80 Cat Kidston cabin bag containing an iPad and clothes.

Miss Kennedy is particularly anxious to get back the iPad, which she bought with money left for her in her late grandmother's will.

Nicola Kennedy, an Iceland worker, was diagnosed with epilepsy aged nine and also has learning difficulties.

She says her epiliepsy takes the force of "absence seizures" causing her to blank out - rather than when the sufferer falls to the ground.

Anyone with information about this crime should call police on 01843 quoting the reference number 46/197954/19.
