Early morning raid of Canterbury shop sparks Kent Police probe

A search has been launched for a hooded burglar after a city centre shop was broken into in the early hours of the morning.

Police have received reports that the incident took place at the business in Burgate, Canterbury, at about 2.20am on Thursday.

A window was damaged during the raid near Butchery Lane, and enquiries are ongoing to establish what was stolen from the premises.

A police spokesman says the suspect was wearing dark-coloured clothing, with a hood up and a face covering.

Anyone with information is being urged to call officers on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/198206/20, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
