Police cordon in Canterbury after man attacked

A man has been taken to hospital following an attack in Canterbury city centre.

The assault happened this afternoon, with police and paramedics called to the scene in Burgate Lane.

Officers have taped off the area, including both St George's underpasses, while the investigation is ongoing.

Forensics officers are also at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to Burgate Lane, Canterbury shortly before 2pm on Tuesday, April 13, following a report that a man had been assaulted.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital.

"Police remain at the scene carrying out enquiries."
