Hunt for B&Q lorry driver after Canterbury bus stop crash

Police are hunting for a lorry driver after reports a B&Q truck crashed into a bus stop and fled the scene.

Witnesses claimed they saw the vehicle reverse into the shelter in Wincheap, Canterbury on Friday morning.

Shattered glass was left scattered across the pavement and the damaged bus stop was due to be removed yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesman said: “We have been made aware a lorry reportedly collided with a bus stop in Wincheap, Canterbury at about 9.30am [on Friday].

“Inquiries are underway to identify the driver and establish whether any criminal offences have been committed.”

A B&Q spokesperson confirmed it is also investigating the reported incident but did not provide any further comment.
