Plans for modern houses in Hackington Close, Canterbury submitted

Bold plans to build state-of-the-art homes boasting excellent views have been revealed.

Architects have drawn up "imaginative" designs for two modernised homes which will be nestled in Hackington Close, Canterbury.

If approved, a current house at the site off St Stephen's Hill will be demolished to make way for the fresh development.

To be built under the instruction of client Paul Roberts, the bespoke homes will both have five bedrooms and be centred around a large open plan "family hub space".

They will each boast views across to the Cathedral from balconies and have solar panels on the roof.

Two other firms had put forward proposals for the client, by new architects Taylor Roberts were brought onto the project in 2017.

In the hope of creating "distinct" houses, the properties will mainly be white in colour along with wooden and stone cladding.

In a supporting document attached to the application submitted to Canterbury City Council, JH Architectural Design state the development is of "exceptionally high quality design".

An outline application was rubber-stamped by the authority in 2017, but the designs have since progressed.

Consultation on the plans are now open, with residents able to submit their thoughts on the council's planning portal before Friday, May 24.
