Kent's biggest annual celebration of the LGBT community has become the latest summertime event to be wiped from this year's calendar.

Organisers of Canterbury Pride, which last year attracted 20,000 people to the city's streets, announced the "sad" decision to disappointed revellers last night.

In wake of this year's forced cancellation due to coronavirus, event bosses promise the spectacle will return with a bigger and more colourful format than ever before in 2021.

A statement released by organisers reads: "We have come to the sad, albeit not surprising, decision that we will need to postpone this year's event.

"This is obviously very upsetting news for our community and everyone that attends and supports us.

"We couldn't be more disappointed, as our committee has been working all year to make Pride Canterbury 2020 even more fabulous than last year.

"The committee will work tirelessly over the next 13 months to make sure this happens."

Canterbury Pride has become one of the city's biggest events, drawing in crowds from across the county and beyond.
