Canterbury resident targeted in Reed Avenue by distraction burglar 'selling Lego'

A man claiming to be selling Lego stole "a large quantity of cash" from a woman's home.

At about 6.30pm on Wednesday, May 22, the man knocked on the door of a home in Reed Avenue, Canterbury - where he asked the resident if she wanted to buy some of the plastic building blocks.

PC Courtney Woodward said: "He was invited into the house and following a brief conversation with the occupants he is reported to have snatched a woman’s handbag and run away from the house.

"The victim’s bag contained a large quantity of cash."

Police are urging city residents to remain vigilant regarding distraction burglaries, and for anyone with information to get in touch.

PC Woodward said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed him entering or leaving the house that day or has more information to assist us with our enquiries.

"In the meantime, we advise people to check the identity of any cold callers and never be afraid to turn people away. Also keep valuable items hidden away."
