Kent Lotto loser misses out on £1 million prize after winning ticket bought in Canterbury goes unclaimed

A Kent lotto ticket holder has lost out on becoming a millionaire - because they never came forward to claim the prize.

National Lottery bosses have just announced that as the ticket bought in Canterbury for the December 4, 2019 draw has remained unclaimed, the money will now go into the charity's good causes pot.

The draw recorded the numbers 9, 13, 21, 25, 38, 31 and the bonus ball was 1. The unclaimed winning ticket matched five numbers and the bonus ball to scoop a life-changing sum.

But more than 180 days - the deadline for claims - has elapsed since it was bought, which means the prize is now lost to the holder.

Camelot’s senior winners' advisor, Andy Carter, said, “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

"In the current situation and to avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, we’re urging all National Lottery players to play and check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app, and only buy their tickets in retail as part of their essential shop.

"Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is checked and you get an email if you are a winner. The National Lottery app will also scan your draw based games retail tickets to check if you are a winner."

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 2345050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk.
