Man hit in face with bottle during Canterbury fight

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit in the face with a bottle during a fight.

Police were called to reports a man had been assaulted during an altercation in The Friars, Canterbury, at 11pm last night.

Officers attended the scene, near the Marlowe Theatre, along with paramedics.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a facial injury, which is not said to be life-threatening.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who witnessed what happened is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/92527/22.

The assault comes just over 24 hours after another man was attacked in nearby Orange Street.

A man was left with serious head injuries following an assault outside the Seven Stars pub at about 7.40pm on Saturday.

He was taken to a London hospital where he remains.

This morning, a 30-year-old man and 27-year-old man, both from the Canterbury area, were arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.

Officers are still keen to speak with witnesses who are yet to make a report and would also like any video which captures the incident to be sent straight to them.
