The 26-year-old, of no fixed address, was initially caught by police following a break-in at a house in Castle Street.

He was arrested at the scene, on Thursday morning, and has since been charged with one count of burglary, and one count of burglary with intent to steal.

He is accused of trying to pinch food, cash, a games console, and an electric scooter from the city centre property.

A back door at the property was found to have been forced open.

Following his arrest, police charged Willett with the separate charges of carrying a razor and knife, and the car break-ins.

Willett appeared before magistrates on Saturday and was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Canterbury Crown Court next month.
