Man removed from Wincheap Industrial Estate roof and charged with criminal damage

A man has been charged with criminal damage after he was removed from a roof on an industrial estate.

A huge emergency response descended on Wincheap, Canterbury, on May 8, following emergency calls.

Firefighters safely removed him from the rooftop, and he was arrested.

Anthony Agnew, of no fixed address, was later charged with criminal damage.

He attended Margate Magistrates' Court on May 9 and was remanded in custody until his next hearing on May 29 at the same location.

Crowds of staff gathered in Wincheap outside Toolstation, Kew Electrical Distributors and the offices of Canterbury Probation Service at the time of the incident.

Surrounding roads were blocked off, and businesses nearby were evacuated.
