A man faces jail for a late-night assault which left his victim needing hospital treatment.
William Brazil was arrested five days after the incident which was said to have involved a group of people in St Peter's Street, Canterbury.
Police were called to the area shortly after 1am on March 29 where they found a man, now named as Paul Wickendon, and reported to be in his 60s, having suffered from what a judge has described as "really serious harm".
Brazil, 30, of Chester Road, Leatherhead in Surrey, was arrested at his home on April 4 and yesterday (May 6) pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm during a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court.
Although no details of Mr Wickendon's injury were given during the proceedings, police reported at the time it was not life-threatening but required him being taken to a local hospital.
Adjourning the case until June 20, Judge Sarah Counsell warned Brazil that although she had ordered a probation report, any possibility of a community-based punishment would require "careful consideration" by the court.
Prosecutor Tim Naik said an updated victim impact statement and medical report would also be sought for that hearing.
Brazil, who has no previous convictions, was released on bail with conditions including weekly reporting to police and a tagged curfew.
