Police and ambulance crews were called to the premises in Craddock Road shortly before 7pm on Tuesday.

But the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious, and that a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Chris Coffey, director of operations at Porchlight which is Kent's largest charity for homeless and vulnerable people, said: “We were so saddened to hear of the death of one of our residents and our deepest sympathies are with their friends and family at this very difficult time.

"Our staff are in contact with the police and we’re doing everything we can to provide information to help with their enquiries.”

Craddock House is one of Porchlight’s supported accommodation projects, where staff aim to help residents make long lasting changes so they can move away from homelessness for good.

Porchlight says that depending on circumstances, residents are provided with access to help managing mental and physical health, drug or alcohol recovery, and support with tenancies, finances and employment.
