Man in dock accused of rapes in 1989

A 38-year-old man has appeared in court charged with two rapes at two separate universities 15 years ago.

Paul Collings is accused of raping an 18-year-old girl at Kent University in Canterbury and a 21-year-old woman at Sussex University at Falmer, near Brighton.

Collings was remanded in custody by Sevenoaks magistrates to appear at the crown court next Monday (December 20).

The alleged attacks took place in October and December 1989. Collings is also facing two counts of indecent assault on another 18-year-old woman at Kent University.

Collings, of Hastings, East Sussex, was arrested on Tuesday in a joint operation between detectives in Kent and Sussex.
