Knife attack near Canterbury East train station leads to arrest

A man has been arrested and another is being treated in hospital after a daylight knife attack near a Canterbury station.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was injured in the assault near Canterbury East railway station at about 9.15am today.

It is understood the incident happened on the bridge that connects the railway station to the Dane John Garden, providing a quick route into the city.

The victim is thought to have been driven to hospital by a friend, where he is being treated for injuries that are not described as serious.

A man in his 30s from the Canterbury area has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in custody.

Police have seized a knife and are carrying out inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
