Man attacked in Canterbury suffers serious facial injuries in attempted robbery

A man suffered serious facial injuries after he was attacked by two yobs, who knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stamped on him.

Detectives are investigating the attempted robbery, which happened in Kingsmead Road, Canterbury.

Police say a man in his 20s was walking away from Northgate when two people approached and asked him for money.

The force said in a statement: "When he refused, he was hit to the ground and repeatedly kicked and stamped on.

"His pockets were searched but nothing was stolen during the incident."

The attempted robbery happened between 11pm and midnight on Saturday.

Both offenders were described as slim white men of around 6ft, who wore jeans, jumpers and coats. One was believed to be blonde and the other had brown hair.

The victim suffered serious facial injuries which needed hospital treatment.

Officers are investigating the report and are appealing for anyone who saw anything, or anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage taken in the area on that date to contact police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/224707/22.
