Canterbury police called as man waves handsaw in The Borough

A man was reportedly seen waving a handsaw in a busy shopping precinct in Canterbury.

Staff in a nearby business in The Borough called police after the man used the tool to hack at flowers in street planters.

He then entered a shop full of worried employees, before officers arrived.

One said: "He was clearly off his head on something."

Police were called to the scene shortly before 4pm on Tuesday and established no threats had been made nor offences committed by the man.

It is understood he was driven home by officers.
