Man charged after police officer assaulted at pharmacy in Canterbury high street

A police officer was left needing hospital treatment after being assaulted at a high street pharmacy.

On November 20, a city centre constable sustained an injury during a disturbance at the store in St George’s Street, Canterbury.

The officer was treated at a local hospital.

A 51-year-old man is now due to appear in court in connection with the assault.

The man, of no fixed address, has been served a postal requisition to attend Margate Magistrates’ Court on July 16, to face charges of causing actual bodily harm and possession of a firearm - namely Pava spray - with intent to cause fear.
