Actor Orlando Bloom is to tie the knot with popstar Katy Perry, it has been revealed.

Following a Valentine's Day proposal, the 42-year-old from Canterbury, took to Instagram to share a picture of himself and his fiancée posing with a pink diamond engagement ring.

Having previously been married to Australian model Miranda Kerr - with whom he has a son - Bloom will tie the knot for the second time.

The Hollywood star, who rose to fame following the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001, started dating the Firework singer in January 2016.

The couple went their separate ways the following year but reunited in December 2017 and have been together since.

Bloom, who has an honary degree from the University of Kent, grew up in Canterbury and is regularly spotted in the county.

He is one of the 29 faces etched beneath a statue of Geoffrey Chaucer in Canterbury city centre.

His successful career has seen him cast in a number of blockbusters including Pirates of the Caribbean and Troy, while also appearing on Broadway and more recently in the West End.

Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand but divorced in 2013.
