Overturned car between Sittingbourne and Faversham closes one lane of the M2

A van has overturned on the motorway between Sittingbourne and Faversham.

One lane has been closed as police deal with the accident on the M2 London bound, between junction five and six.

Kent Police were called to the scene at 1.10pm and have said that the van overturned and landed on its roof in lane one, but the driver was able to get out of the vehicle.

The man has been taken to Medway Hospital with minor injuries.

Simon Jones tweeted after seeing the car. He said: "Witnessed the aftermath of a couple of nasty crashes in torrential rain on the M2 near Faversham."

The lane will reopen once the vehicle has been recovered.

A separate incident occurred just 15 minutes later on the coast-bound carriageway of the M2 with reports of a vehicle coming off the road.

There are no reported injuries at this stage.
