An accident caused long tailbacks on the London-bound carriageway of the Thanet Way at Whitstable on Thursday morning after a small truck carrying a load of wood tipped onto its side.

The vehicle and the timber blocked both lanes at Wraik Hill until police and and other motorists helped clear the wood to the side of the road so one lane was passable.

Nobody was hurt and the truck was later moved by a recovery vehicle.
