A keen sportsman studying at Canterbury Christ Church University has died.

Max Davies, who was part of the university's rugby squad, passed away this week.

Members of his home team Monmouth Rugby Football Club in Wales have paid tribute to him.

A social media post invited senior players to gather at the clubhouse yesterday afternoon to raise a glass in his memory.

Delyth Harris commented on it: "Heartfelt condolences to the family from everyone at Monmouth Sports Association."

David Uttley said: "Deepest condolences from everyone at Monmouth Town FC."
