TikTok challenge sparks police warning over shoplifting

A new TikTok "shoplifting challenge" has sparked a warning from police.

Officers in Canterbury are urging parents to stay vigilant, as the new trend on the video sharing platform challenges young people to "see how much they can shoplift in a day".

Posting on Twitter, Kent Police Canterbury wrote: "Parents, please be aware of the latest TikTok challenge for youths to see how much they can shoplift in a day.

"It's a game that is still a crime that could result in arrest!"

It's not the first time the emergency services have had to issue warnings about the dangers of TikTok challenges.

A previous craze saw firefighters having to be called out to numerous reports of teenagers getting stuck in toddler swings.
