Bosses at the Sun Street-based firm say it simply isn't "financially viable" to keep the restaurant running.

They are, however, hoping to operate a takeaway service in the city - meaning the business the will still have a presence in Canterbury.

But the restaurant will not be reopening.

A statement released today says: "Financially operating a restaurant in the high street prior to Covid-19 was driven by passion and very little profit.

"But following the virus and operating under the new guidelines with the damage that has been caused, means it is sadly no longer financially viable.

"However, the good news is that we will do all we can to operate our takeaway and tap room under a new format in Canterbury, and at the same time open our takeaway at the fabulous Sun Deck in Margate.

The takeaway service is planned to come into action at some point in July.
